Frequently asked
Straight answers about garage door repair in Chaska. Still unsure? Ask us directly.
Why did my spring break in the middle of winter with no warning?
Torsion springs are rated for a set number of open-close cycles, and cold steel is more brittle than warm steel. In a severe cold climate like ours, a spring near the end of its life is far more likely to snap on a sub-zero morning than in July, even though nothing changed about how you use the door.
Is my door old enough that parts will be hard to find?
Most houses in our area were built between 1954 and 2006, with the bulk from the 1980s and 90s, so common torsion springs, rollers, and openers from that range are usually stocked. A special wind or drum size on an older door can take an extra day to order, but that's the exception, not the rule.
Do you ever tell people not to repair their door?
Yes. If the track is rusted through, a panel's badly bent, or the opener is well past a realistic lifespan, another repair is often just delaying a replacement you'll need anyway. We'd rather say that up front than keep billing you for patches.
How far out from Chaska do you go?
We run from Carver a few miles out to closer to 18 miles west. If your town isn't obviously on that list, call and we'll tell you straight whether it's in range.
