Plain Answers
We get asked a lot of the same questions, so here's the straight version. Yes, we work on both torsion and extension springs - the mix you find across a service area with 61,559 owner-occupied houses built over five decades is wide, and we don't turn away a job because the spring style is older.
Do we know your neighborhood without you telling us the cross streets? No. We know the era of the housing, not every block. If your house was built in the 1980s or 90s, which covers most of what's out here, we can usually guess at the hardware before we arrive, but we still ask questions on the phone rather than assume.
This is a cold-climate service area, and that's a real factor in what fails and when. Steel doors and openers here deal with a severe cold band every winter, and that's what drives a lot of the spring fatigue and opener strain we see. We don't sell that as mystery or drama - it's just the weather this part of Minnesota gets, and it's why a door that's fine in October can bind up hard in January.

What We Will Not Do
We won't tell you a door needs full replacement when a spring or a cable does the job - that's the more common call anyway, given how much of the housing stock in this area is 1980s and 90s vintage with doors that are aging but not dead. If your opener is original to a house built in that window, sometimes the fix is a new opener and not a new door, and we'll say so.
We also won't quote a job sight unseen for anything beyond a basic spring swap. Panel damage, track misalignment, and opener issues vary too much house to house to price over the phone with a straight face.
One honest limit: if a part is discontinued or backordered - which happens more with older doors from the earlier end of that 1954-2006 build range - we tell you the wait instead of guessing. We'd rather give you a real timeline than a number we make up to get off the phone.
We don't work outside the area we actually know. If you're well past the towns we cover, we'll say that too rather than take the job and figure it out on the drive.
