Why did my spring break in the middle of winter with no warning?
Torsion springs are rated for a set number of open-close cycles, and cold steel is more brittle than warm steel. In a severe cold climate like ours, a spring near the end of its life is far more likely to snap on a sub-zero morning than in July, even though nothing changed about how you use the door.
Is my door old enough that parts will be hard to find?
